E-waste or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) are regarded as loosely discarded, surplus, obsolete, broken, electrical or electronic devices. It is unhealthy and dangerous to keep electronic waste out of landfills. The EPA has stated that e-waste is dangerous when improperly disposed of. Electronic devices are comprised of unhealthy toxic substances and heavy metals. Materials such as chromium, cadmium, mercury and lead can leach into the soil contaminating the air and waterways which are polluting the environment day by day.
In this context Midnapore College (Autonomous) has started to manage the e- waste materials of the College by the Agreement with the private Agency. By this way it will help to make the environment pollution free and on the other hand recycling of these materials will enhance the economic sustainability.It is unhealthy and dangerous to keep electronic waste out of landfills.
