Midnapore College initiated teaching of Microbiology (Hons.) course during the academic session 2005 – 06, in the month of August 2005. Permission for extension of affiliation for Microbiology (Hons.) by the Vidyasagar University was received by the College when admission in 1^st year Hons. course was on the verge of completion. As such only 3 students took admission in Microbiology (Hons.) The university approved this course on self- finance basis.
