Over the decades, tourism has experienced continued growth and deepening ‎diversification to become one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. ‎These dynamics have turned tourism into a key driver for socio-‎economic progress.‎ Today, the business volume of tourism equals or even surpasses that of oil exports, ‎food products or automobiles. Tourism has become one of the major players in ‎international trade, and represents at the same time one of the main income ‎sources for many developing countries. Looking at the growing prospect of generating sustainable livelihood and employment opportunities, Midnapore College (Autonomous) formed the Department of Tourism & Aviation Management which started functioning from the session 2020-2021 to impart education and training in the field of tourism, hospitality & aviation. The department in itself is the symbol of quality education. All the students of its first batch now got placed for training under the leading internationally acclaimed brands like Marriott Int. (2^nd largest hotel chain in the world.), Accor Group (6^th largest hotel chain in the world), Taj Group (the Pioneer of Indian Hospitality) and Neptune Holidays to name a few. The department is receiving continuous support from a panel of renowned experts like Prof. Dillip Kumar Das, Associate Professor of Burdwan University, Ranjit Chaudhary, Former Principal, Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata, Sekhar Mukherjee-General Manager, TajSATS Air Catering Ltd etc.
