The Department of Geography, Midnapore College started functioning from the session of 1994 – 95. It was started initially as B.A. General Course with a sanctioned strength of 30 students.  The next academic session (1995 – 1996) Department first experienced with three year degree course through the enthusiastic exertion of some guest faculty members. From the time of initiation the Dept. of Geography experiences a steep growth and now the department is a full-fledged with 16 faculty members specialized in various branches of Geography. The postgraduate degree course (M.Sc.) was introduced in the session of 2015 – 2016 with a sanctioned strength of 20 students.
