The Department of Computer Science was established on the 2nd of August, 1998. The inauguration of the department was done by some renowned personalities, namely Prof. Partha Sarathi Dey, Lecturer of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, Dr. Dilip Kr. Nanda, Chief System Manager, Computer Centre, IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Mukul Ranjan Ray, Former Principal of Midnapore College. Dr. Mani Mohan Mandal, Former Coordinator of the department and faculties of other departments were also present during the inauguration.  PG Department was established in 2018.
